[icons] commissions

Feb. 16th, 2016 | 12:55 am

Hey folks! I'm trying something new, so prepare yourselves for...
Icon Commissions!
What You Get:

Here are some samples! You get a 100x100 icon of your character, cropped, colored, and ready for all your expressive character's needs! You'll also get the uncropped version (usually around 500x500), in case you'd rather do the cropping yourself.

What You Pay:

Icons are $7 a pop, or get a set of three for $18! Payments are accepted through Paypal or Dreamwidth Points.
What Can You Do?

OCs both human and not, obscure characters, book characters, that sort of thing! I looooove drawing monsters and non-humans, especially. The only thing I'm not super comfortable drawing is smutty stuff. Sorry about that!
How to Order:

Either leave a comment below, PM this journal, or send me an e-mail at grimmhooke [at] gmail [dot] com. Thanks a bunch for looking! ♥

And in case my style doesn't catch your fancy, here's a list of other fantastic icon artists. Please check them out!

It has been a very long time since I posted anything here. So what's new?

I don't get to do as much art as I used to, but I still craft and make costumes. Yay!
I still love my cat a little too much. Huzzah!
I still do a whole lot of improv comedy. Neat!
I'm more active on Tumblr and Facebook these days, and moved with the RP scene to Dreamwidth (though I don't really post there either, for the record). Cool!
I'm getting married on Saturday to that guy I've been dating for about a decade. Swell!

I think about you guys often, even if I don't come around here much anymore. I do keep up with some of you in other places, but to those I don't see around as much as I like, know I still love you. ♥

Season's Greetings

Dec. 25th, 2010 | 09:56 am

Merry Christmas, everyone! ♥

I hope the day is wonderful for everyone, whether you celebrate or not. I'll be thinking of you this season and sending you my warmest wishes. ♥

Shockingly, it snowed here! :D I'm pretty sure this is my first White Christmas, too! I'm so excited. It's not a lot of snow, but given how rarely it snows here, I'll take what I can get.

[meme] Pronunciation

Dec. 22nd, 2010 | 11:04 pm

Seen a few people on my flist do this, and it sounded like fun!

☆ Make a voice post with the following things so that your F-list can hear how you pronounce them (and laugh at you, of course):

▊ Your name and/or username
▊ Where you're from
▊ The words "roof", "aunt", "direction", and "naturally"
▊ Your favorite song
▊ Your favorite character
▊ A word in a different language

... I still think I sound like a twelve year-old boy. :(

So Much for Christmas Cheer

Dec. 20th, 2010 | 06:19 pm

From my Facebook. This is what has had me down for the last couple of days.

For those who don't know, my dad and I have a set of elaborate Christmas costumes we don each year: he goes as the Grinch, complete with facial appliances to give him the looks, while I go as a white-tailed reindeer named Ramius. We've been to the hospital, were on the float for the Lee County Library in the local parade this year, and have been interviewed by the news crew on one of our annual mall visits. Each year, we randomly show up at said mall- usually the week right before Christmas- and spread holiday cheer to mall patrons. We're stopped for photos, answer questions in character, and hopefully bring a bit of holiday magic to children who may never see costumes like this otherwise.

This year, we were asked to leave the mall before we even got to the main halls.

The face of holiday rule-breaking for 2010. Please ignore the overjoyed lady in the background, as having fun with the costumes and taking a picture of the Grinch with her camera phone is clearly a sign of insanity.

No Fun AllowedCollapse )

[meme] TV Tropes Characterization Meme

Dec. 11th, 2010 | 02:35 am

I promise I'm still alive, LJers. I just don't update much, though I comment here and there. I saw Lisa post this and thought it sounded cool and would be a nice exercise in thinking about one of my characters (since I never did get around to getting my stories posted anywhere and thus I'm the only one who knows these things, but still). I don't get to do much of that nowadays, since I don't have a great deal of time for personal writing and whatnot. Here goes!

Take one of your fanfics or RP characters and list five tropes you use with them.

1. Birds of a Feather with Dandel. It does make it easier for them to get along. Also goes along with Blood Brothers.

2. Apologizes A Lot, which is something I do myself. By extension, he's also an Apologetic Attacker.

3. Stupid Neutral with a touch of High Hopes Zero Talent about sums up his life.

4. Berserk Button, in a scene I don't think I'll ever be able to illustrate. And this goes along with Guilt Complex and the mountains and mountains of Backstory he has. Someday, my drawing skills. Someday.

5. Interspecies Romance. Well, he is a catfish thing that marries a griffin woman.

[dreams] July 7th

Oct. 29th, 2010 | 01:29 pm

This one doesn't make much sense (and neither does my half-asleep typing), and is kind of graphic toward the beginning.

A Scary RideCollapse )

Breloom Plush

Oh man, I should have finished this months ago, but I finally got around to putting the last details on her last night.

What's that in the tall grass?Collapse )

Whoops! I knew I had missed posting this somewhere, but I just couldn't figure out where. It turns out it was my LJ! Oh, how I've neglected you these past busy months. Real update coming too, but first...

crssafox is offering lovely commissions in order to pay off some vet-related bills! She does beautiful work for a fantastic price, so now is definitely the time to snag some while you can. Also going on is her super-sweet Tail Sale- just in time for you Dragon*Con goers on my list.

In other news, I promise I'm still around- I don't update as much as I should, but I read my flist each day. Work has been busy- my dad and I have started our own business (in short, we print custom shirts, but I'll write a better post on that a bit later) and I keep busy with the local improv troupe, West of Shake Rag. Our performances have moved to a different local theater- possibly haunted, just like the first, but that's not unusual for the area- and we're steadily working on a murder mystery show (a bit of character rambling will probably show up in a later entry, too. I promise I'm going to update this more).

Hopefully, I'll have my latest plush done soon and can update with pictures of that- I've just not found the time to finish it. D:
